"My life at The AAIB", with Peter Coombs

  • Blackbushe Heritage Trust England United Kingdom (map)

Early in his career, and following an apprenticeship there, Peter worked for BAC at Filton in the Structural Design Department, which included work on Concorde.

For 48 years though, he worked as an engineering investigator at The Air Accidents Investigation Branch (AAIB), based initially in London and then from 1984 in Farnborough. During that time he worked on over 250 investigations into accidents or major incidents.

Peter also has historical links to Blackbushe, being a PPL member and then instructor (in his spare time) at 3 Counties Aero Club, which formerly occupied part of the same building as we’ll use for this evening’s talk. He continues to fly from nearby Popham airfield.

We expect what should be another very interesting talk to cover the history of the AAIB and some highlights of Peter’s long career there.

You can secure your place/s for his talk here.
