An evening with former Concorde pilot John Tye

We are delighted to announce that following his first “sell-out” talk for us just over a year ago, John will be joining us again for what we are sure will be another fascinating and entertaining insight into his life “From the orphanage to the edge of space”.

John retired as a 777 Training Captain with British Airways in December 2022 having started his aviation career over 46 years earlier, straight from school as a junior clerk. After several ground based positions, he gained his commercial pilot’s licence in 1987 and went to fly for a charter airline, Dan Air, flying the 727.

Two years later John returned to BA and flew the original 747 ‘Classic’ for nine years. Concorde was John’s ultimate ambition and that dream eventually came true in 1998, when he became one of the small number of pilots to fly the supersonic airliner.

We expect this talk to be as popular as the first one that John did for us, so if you want to hear from him and meet him again, or join us because you missed him last time, you can reserve your place/s in advance here.
